Once again, the government gets the job done, and millionaires get millions in subsidies.

Golec brothers received nearly 1.9 million Gold, Team weekend 520 thousand. zł, Bayer full 550 thousand., and rapper miuosh 2 mln. It is also worth mentioning the company AUTOMAT-SPEC renting vending machines, which received nearly 65 thousand. zł support. These are just a few examples of what subsidies were granted to "artists" (a non-accidental quotation in view of which companies received the aid) from the culture support fund, whose budget amounted to 400 million zlotys. All as part of the fight against the effects of the pandemic.

In principle, I understand the idea. People working in the cultural sector, that is, not only artists, but also the entire backstage could actually need financial assistance. Sound engineers, lighting designers, writers. In general, these are not people who earn huge money, and yet they have to somehow live. In this case, this support is understandable.

Unfortunately, I have big reservations about whether to make sure this support goes to these people. If stage performers (mainly singers and front-page news and portals) actually-as some of them claim-employ a staff of people, then they should benefit from business aid, and in that case why should they take extra money from the cultural support fund?

In my opinion, employing people and keeping jobs are arguments designed to relieve public pressure. Personally, it is absurd for me that people who earn millions of zlotys a year from concerts should receive such gigantic assistance from the state in a situation where the economy and health protection are in crisis. We are talking about people who collect huge amounts of money from concerts, and yet they get such large subsidies.

Someone will say that such a high level of assistance was given on the basis of lost revenue. Most companies and thousands of employees had lost revenue. Businesses in the catering and fitness industries were closed overnight. People have lost their jobs, often without being able to get the already pitifully low benefits, and we are giving away 400 million zlotys with a light hand, in large part for people who sleep on cash. And we shouldn't have a grudge against artists. It's like being nervous about retirees who take 13. pension, or for people with children who charge 500 plus. Guilty is the system and institutions of the state, which give to the left and to the right in a completely ill-conceived way money.
Just estimating on the basis of lost costs is absurd, especially when we are talking about people who turn over millions. Thanks to this approach, the bajm ensemble, which received nearly 1.4 million zlotys in donations, won more than, for example, the Philharmonic in Szczecin or Poznań. We are talking about a completely different scale of operating costs. Apart from the fact that cultural institutions are completely closed, and musicians still receive royalties and advertising contracts, such as m.in. Kamil Bednarek, who received half a million gold support, and yet is one of the faces of the advertising campaign play.

Of course, there are a lot more cultural institutions on the list, such as theatres, Philharmonic societies and public speaking and stage companies, that really needed support. However, giving help to people like miuosh, who until a few months ago boasted in an interview that he had so much money that he could do nothing and would be able to live, after which he receives 2 million zlotys is a slight misunderstanding. Not to mention over 60,000. from the fund for support of culture went to the company renting vending machines with snacks and drinks. It's an absurd situation.

The release of many millions of gold was stopped only by the media storm that appeared. The worst thing, however, is that by withholding funds, a lot of institutions that really need support will not receive it. In contrast, those who are mainly responsible for the confusion still have the means to function. The blame for this state of affairs lies primarily with the state institutions, which once again have not thought through their actions, and not the artists. Therefore, we should not criticize the artists, but the government, because it is responsible for the whole mess. But we shouldn't be surprised. The last few months have been a real festival of partisanship on the part of the ruling party, and this is not the first and probably not the last such situation.
